Biden welcomes Trump to White House

President Biden welcomed Donald Trump to the White House today. Biden said, “Welcome back.” Trump said “Thank you” and that politics is tough. He said he appreciates a smooth transition.

Biden is doing something that Trump didn’t do in 2020. When Trump lost the election, he refused to recognize that Biden won and tried many different ways to hold on to power.

“Full House” actor Dave Coulier has cancer

Dave Coulier, an actor and comedian best known for his role as Uncle Joey on the TV show “Full House,” announced that he has cancer. It is a blood cancer.

Coulier said he was diagnosed five weeks ago when he saw an abnormal golf-ball sized lump in his groin area. He said his doctors said they wished they had better news but informed that he had cancer and needed treatment right away.

Judge says 10 Commandments in schools is unconstitutional

A federal judge said Louisiana’s new requirement to display the Ten Commandments in all public classrooms is obviously unconstitutional.

Louisiana’s legislature, with Republicans in full control, passed a law earlier this year to require the religious document to be displayed in classrooms.

The judge agreed with a lawsuit that said the Ten Commandments requirement violates the First Amendment provisions on forbidding the government from establishing a religion or blocking the free exercise of religion.

The judge ordered state officials to do nothing to enforce the Ten Commandments. Louisiana plans to appeal.

Thune to lead Senate; Trump taps Musk and Hegseth

Senate Republicans elected Sen. John Thune (R-South Dakota) as their next Senate majority leader. He will take over Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Ky)’s long-time role as the leader of GOP senators.

The Senate majority leader is a very powerful role as they can decide which bills go on the floor and whether to permit amendments to be added to bills.

Thune said he feels that Republicans are united behind President-elect Trump’s agenda and that their work starts today.

In other news, Trump picked Fox News host Pete Hegseth to lead the Department of Defense (U.S. military). He is a veteran.

Trump also picked billionaire Elon Musk to be the co-leader of the new “Department of Government Efficiency.” Trump said he hopes for the department to cut wasteful expenditures.
