Dog breeder found dead, 10 puppies missing
In Colorado, a dog breeder was killed and 10 of his Doberman puppies are missing. Police said they suspect someone killed him and stole the puppies to sell them. Police said if they can find the puppies, they may be able to solve the crime. Police asked the public to contact them if they bought a Doberman puppy recently. All the puppies are microchipped so it would be easy to know if they came from the breeder. His name was Paul Peavey (57).

Special counsel indicts Trump again
Special counsel Jack Smith filed a new and modified indictment against Donald Trump accusing him of breaking several laws when he refused to accept the peaceful transfer of power after he lost the 2020 election.
CBS News explained that Smith modified his indictment after the Supreme Court’s ruling that Trump was immune from prosecution for some of his actions because they were considered official actions as a president. The new filing frames some of Trump’s actions from the context of a political candidate rather than as a president.
The indictment said Trump knew he lost the 2020 election but spread lies that there was fraud and broke the law when he tried to obstruct the Jan. 6 election certification at Congress and take away Americans’ votes.
Trump said Jack Smith was trying to interfere with the upcoming election in November and is a deranged person.

Man angry over sale of home kills 4 family members and himself
In disturbing news from Long Island, New York, a 59-year-old man shot and killed four of his family members and took his life on Sunday. Police said the man was living with his 95-year-old mother and after she passed away, the man’s siblings wanted to sell the house. The man was opposed to this and didn’t want to find a new place to live. Apparently he couldn’t stop the process of the house being on sale. On Sunday, the man’s three adult siblings and an adult niece gathered at the house because they planned to meet a real estate agent. The man used a shotgun he recently purchased to kill the four family members in the house and then walked outside and shot himself. Police said if they were aware that the man was dealing with mental health issues, they could have used “red flag” laws to prevent the man from buying a firearm. But police were not aware of any issues and the man was able to obtain a shotgun not long before the shooting.

Israel launches deadly military operation in West Bank
CBS News said Israel launched a large-scale military operation today in the occupied West Bank, a Palestinian territory. The Palestinian Red Crescent said at least 10 Palestinians were killed. The Israeli army said it was carrying out counterterrorism operations and killed nine terrorists during firefights. Israel said it took action because it wanted to prevent Iran from building its strength in the region.
The president of the Palestinian Authority said this was Israeli aggression. Al Jazeera reported that Israeli bulldozers were destroying roads. The Palestinian health ministry said over 650 Palestinians, including 150 children, have been killed in the West Bank since Oct. 7.

Lonely dolphin blamed for biting swimmers in Japan
NBC News said at least 18 swimmers in Japan have been bitten by a dolphin since July 21. Experts believe that it is possible that a single bottlenose dolphin is behind all the attacks. This dolphin was spotted swimming on its own, which is unusual because bottlenose dolphins tend to stay in pods. Experts said this lonely dolphin is likely trying to play with humans rather than attack them but their “play” is painful because dolphins have lots of sharp teeth. Now swimmers have been warned to get out of the ocean if they see a dolphin.
