USADSF Board Spotlight

[Transcript] JIM CRANE:

Hi! I’m Jim Crane. I’m the Executive Director of USADSF for one year and a half.

I used to compete in the Deaflympics in 2005, 2007, and 2015. I’ve been very involved with Deaflypmics and my heart is for sports. In 2015, I retired from ice hockey but when I thought of how I could still be involved, I went ahead and applied for the USADSF Executive Director position and got it. I am very honored to have this position of helping with organizing Deaf sports for the U.S. I’m proud to send 41 athletes and a total of 76 participants for USADSF.

TIFFANY WILLIAMS:

Hi! I’m Tiffany Williams. I’ve been on the USADSF Board for two years now. I’ve been involved with deaf sports and athletics for over 30 years.

Here behind me is the ICSD Congress. It is always a tradition to have a Congress before the winter or summer Deaflympics. What goes on here? It is made up of delegates from every Deaf sports federation. There are usually fifty or sixty federations, but it depends on whether it’s summer or winter Deaflympics. There are important discussions that span two days. There is a one-day workshop prior to the two days. We gather here and discuss issues, proposals, selections of the summer or winter Deaflympics.

My experiences as an athlete are unforgettable. That feeling of competing and interacting with other athletes is a lifetime memory. I want the same for our 41 athletes!

DANNY LACEY:

Hello, my name is Danny Lacey, President of the USADSF. I’ve been the president for two years.

Why am I passionate? I like to see all the athletes and coaches have the experience of going to the Deaflympics and World Championships, and to see young people make it a goal to become an elite athlete.

To see this happen here in Italy with athletes arriving on their first day, being excited about it, and meeting old and new friends, it is very positive and inspiring to see that.

WILLIAMS:

I am very grateful for our sponsors, our wonderful fans, our people who have really gave their hearts for Deaf sports, and there’s really so many that I can’t name. You know who you are and thank you. I also look forward to your continued support for winter and summer Deaflympics and for everything. Thank you and go USA!
