Over 60 million voted early

CBS News said over 60 million Americans have voted early as of this morning. CBS said its poll released this week shows a tied race between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump.

Trump dressed up like a garbage worker and posed in front of a garbage truck with a “TRUMP 2024” sign on it. He wore an orange vest during a rally in Wisconsin. Trump said they are “not garbage,” like what President Biden called them. Harris held rallies in Phoenix and Reno and will do a rally in Las Vegas with Jennifer Lopez. Lopez has Puerto Rican descent and she endorsed Harris and previously condemned a comedian at a Trump rally’s joke about Puerto Rico being a floating island of garbage.

CDC says 90 sickened by McDonald’s E. coli outbreak

ABC News reported that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said at least 90 people have been sickened by the E. coli outbreak linked to McDonald’s Quarter Pounder hamburgers. Most of the cases are in Colorado and Montana but 11 other states also had cases. At least 27 people have been hospitalized. Two people developed a serious health condition called HUS that can cause kidney failure. One person died in Colorado.

The CDC said its data shows that fresh, slivered onions used on the Quarter Pounder and other menu items are the likely source of the outbreak.

The CDC said McDonald’s received its supply of onions from Taylor Farms. Both companies have taken actions to ensure its onions and beef patties are removed and eventually replaced with a fresh supply.

Over 95 killed by Spain’s flash floods

Authorities in Spain said over 95 people have been tragically killed by flash flooding that hit the eastern part of the country on Monday. The death toll may rise higher as there are ongoing searches for missing people.

Some areas saw a few months’ worth of rain in less than a day. There are many news images that show many narrow streets just filled with vehicles and debris, which shows the power of the rushing waters that overwhelmed the area. Many who lived on ground-floor apartments were trapped.

The New York Times said meteorologists said the rainfall was likely the result of a sudden cold drop, which happens when cold air moves over the warm waters of the Mediterranean Sea and causes the hotter, moister air at the surface to rise quickly and produce robust rain clouds, which moved across Spain.
