Bullets that killed CEO had messages written on them

CBS News reported that the bullets used in the assassination of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson had the words, “deny,” “defend,” and “depose” written on them.

The CEO was killed on Wednesday morning in front of a hotel in New York City where there was supposed to be an investor conference.

The NY Post explained that the words are very similar to a book that criticized health insurance businesses. The title is, “Delay, Deny, Defend,” which describes insurance companies’ tactics in denying healthcare claims. There are other theories on the internet on what the message means.

The gunman is still at large. He used a firearm that was attached with a silencer and fled on foot and on an electric bicycle.

Police released a new image of the suspect, who looks like a young white man. He was staying at a hostel.

Thompson’s wife said she is shattered by the senseless killing and that she and their two sons will miss him greatly.

D.C. sues Amazon over halt in fast deliveries in two ZIP codes

AP News said the D.C. government sued Amazon on Wednesday with the allegation that Amazon secretly stopped making fast deliveries to two predominantly Black neighborhoods but still charged residents for their Prime memberships, which is supposed to offer same-day or one/two-day shipments. The lawsuit said Amazon stopped using their delivery systems and relied on the U.S. Postal Service or UPS.

Amazon said it did make changes on fast deliveries to these two neighborhoods due to concerns about driver safety. Amazon said there were specific and targeted acts against drivers delivering Amazon packages. Amazon said many deliveries were made within two days and that customers knew when they could expect their deliveries.

The D.C. government said Amazon never told Prime members in the neighborhoods about the change and still charged them full price for Prime memberships. D.C. is asking a court to order Amazon to stop doing this and pay restitution or damages to affected residents and pay penalties.

Archaeologists find 32 needle fragments used by prehistoric people in Wyoming

Archaeologists working at a site in Wyoming where prehistoric people about 13,000 years ago butchered a mammoth discovered that these people used needles made from the bones of red foxes, bobcats, mountain lions, lynx, the now-extinct American cheetah, and rabbits. These needles have holes (eyes) in them and were likely used to stitch garments that kept people warm during the ice age. Archaeologists believe that the people at the site were from the Clovis culture, which is one of North America’s oldest known human populations.
