Maryland Deaf Community Center groundbreaking; Audio Radar partners with Logitech G
Here are two Deaf News briefs.
The first is a report from the Frederick News Post that there was a groundbreaking ceremony for the Maryland Deaf Community Center on Tuesday.
The MDCC President Linda Stoltz said it will be the first community center for the deaf and hard-of-hearing in the state. The land was purchased with $2.5 million in state funding and there was a total of $1 million in contributions from the city and county of Frederick.
“The Daily Moth” did an interview with Stoltz and other MDCC leaders last year and it’s linked in the transcript. Congratulations on the groundbreaking.
The news report said the center will be 11,000 square feet and would offer lounge space, meeting rooms, a kitchen, and a multi-purpose gym. It will be built by an architecture and design firm in Maryland that will also bring in a Deaf civil engineer from Indiana named Anthony Maginity.

Audio Radar partners with Logitech G
The second Deaf News brief is that Audio Radar, a neat technology that allows Deaf and hard of hearing gamers to see the lights of the sounds in their games, has partnered with Logitech G to sell the technology on their website.
Audio Radar is created by Airdrop Gaming, which was founded by Tim Murphy, a former radar technician with the Navy. He has worked with Deaf people in developing the technology and “The Daily Moth” did an interview with him in October and it’s linked in the transcript.
The partnership means the Audio Radar technology is available on their website and makes the technology more mainstream. It costs $349. This partnership is a part of Logitech’s “Start-Up for Good” initiative, which aims to empower companies that use innovation to create positive social impact.
Nice, congratulations to Airdrop Gaming / Audio Radar.
That’s the two Deaf News briefs for today.
