Cat. 5 Hurricane Milton to hit Florida on Wednesday

Another hurricane is coming to Florida. It’s a Category 5 Hurricane named Milton and as of this afternoon, it has wind speeds of 175 mph.

Weather forecasters say it may approach Florida’s west coast on Wednesday with landfall sometime in the evening.

The hurricane rapidly increased in strength, going from a Cat. 2 to Cat. 5 in only a few hours.

There is great concern for those who are still recovering from Hurricane Helene as they will have to deal with another and a seemingly more dangerous storm. Tampa International Airport will close on Tuesday morning. Orlando International Airport will close Wednesday morning.

The National Hurricane Center has issued hurricane watches across portions of Florida and warned that some parts could experience life-threatening storm surge, flooding rain, and damaging winds.

Forecast maps show that the hurricane may cut across the middle of Florida before going out into the Atlantic Ocean.

Elon Musk at Trump rally

Elon Musk appeared at Donald Trump’s rally in Butler, Pennsylvania on Saturday.

The location of the rally is the same one where Trump was shot in the ear on July 13 by a gunman. Trump spoke behind bulletproof glass and security was very tight. Trump honored Corey Comperatore, a 50-year-old man who was killed by bullets fired by the gunman. There was a moment of silence.

Musk was invited onstage during the middle of Trump’s speech. Musk previously endorsed Trump for president after he was shot. In his remarks, he said the true test of someone’s character is how they behave under fire and encouraged people to vote.

Israel marks a year since Oct. 7 attacks

AP News said Israelis held somber ceremonies today to mark a year since the deadliest attack in the country’s history, when many Hamas fighters crossed the border from Gaza into southern Israel and killed about 1,200 people and took about 250 others hostage.

AP said there were two different events today in Israel that showed the country’s divisions. One was held by the government and the other was in Tel Aviv by the families of those who were killed on Oct. 7 and of hostages still held in Gaza who refused to join the official ceremony.

The Israeli military started a military campaign against Hamas after the Oct. 7 attacks and it resulted in over 41,000 Palestinians in Gaza being killed. Many buildings in Gaza have been destroyed and most of the population have been driven from their homes.

AP said Hamas fired a barrage of rockets at Tel Aviv today and Hezbollah fired many rockets from Lebanon. The war is persisting.
