Coast Guard suspends search for Dorian Yanke, missing Deaf fisherman

A 46-year-old Deaf man named Dorian Yanke is missing after he went on a fishing trip off the coast of Delaware last Monday, August 26.

The U.S. Coast Guard said he was reported missing last Wednesday and on Sunday, September 1, the U.S. Coast Guard said it’s suspended its active search. The search lasted for three and a half days and covered almost 15,000 square miles.

The U.S. Coast Guard said Dorian was last heard from on Monday, August 26 when he told a family member that he would go out on a fishing trip and that he took out his 24-foot fishing boat.

Many people who knew Dorian expressed grave concern and hopes that he will either come back home or be found safely.

On the day before he went on his fishing trip, he posted on his social media accounts a six-minute video and a 175-page writing explaining that he had a very severe mental health breakdown after facing multiple issues with his former employer at a college in California.

Clearly, many are concerned about the whereabouts of Dorian. The U.S. Coast Guard said if anyone has additional information, to contact the Sector Delaware Bay Command Center 24/7 hotline at 215-271-4960.
