CDC says E. coli outbreak linked to McDonald’s Quarter Pounders
The CDC said there is an outbreak of E. coli that is linked to McDonald’s Quarter Pounder burgers. There are at least 49 cases in 10 states with one death and 10 hospitalizations.
Most of the illnesses are in Colorado and Nebraska and most of the sick people said they ate a McDonald’s Quarter Pounder.
McDonald’s said it is taking quick action. The company said some of the illnesses may be caused by slivered onions from a supplier that serves three distribution centers. It will remove slivered onions from its supply in the area. McDonald’s also will make Quarter Pounder hamburgers temporarily unavailable in Colorado, Kansas, Utah, Wyoming, and portions of other states.
The CDC said it is likely that there are more people out there affected by the E. coli outbreak because many recover from it without testing or receiving medical care. Symptoms are stomach cramps, diarrhea and vomiting.

LeBron and Bronny James make history
Last night the Los Angeles Lakers had their season opener and it was historic because LeBron James was on the court with his son, Bronny, at the same time. They are the first father-son duo to appear in a game together. They did play together during the preseason, but this is the regular season.
What made the night more special was that another historic father-son duo was there in the audience, Ken Griffey Sr. and Ken Griffey Jr. They played together on the same MLB team, the Seattle Mariners, for two seasons.
Griffey Jr. told ESPN that his father said you’ve got to have longevity as an older guy and your son has got to be pretty good to get there pretty quick.
It is LeBron’s 22nd NBA season, which ties a record. Bronny was the 55th pick in this year’s draft.

North Korean troops in Russia
U.S. Defense Sec. Austin said it has evidence that North Korean troops are in Russia, but they don’t know what they are doing there and whether they are participating in Russia’s war against Ukraine. Austin said if it is the troops’ intention to participate in the war, then that is a “very, very serious issue.”
Axios said South Korea had already issued warnings about North Korean troop movements in recent days, saying there are 3,000 troops. South Korea said it would consider supplying weapons to Ukraine in response.
Ukrainian President Zelenskyy also said last week that North Korean troops were preparing to join Russian forces in the war.

Israeli missile destroys building in Beirut, Lebanon
Several photographers captured the moment an Israeli missile struck and destroyed an apartment building in Beirut, Lebanon.
The Israeli military had issued an earlier warning that it was targeting the building because it was associated with Hezbollah and told people they should evacuate.
AP News said by the time of the missile strike, the building had been evacuated and there were no reports of casualties.
[Video clip showing the moment of the strike]
The images and video show the terrifying power of the missile and its ability to topple an entire apartment building. These types of attacks have devastated most of Gaza and now Lebanon is getting hit in different cities as Israel ramps up its offensive against Hezbollah.
Obviously, there is great concern among the international community for civilians and children who are forced to deal with living in the middle of war zones.
