What does it mean to you to represent the USA?
JOE GOTFRYD, HEAD COACH:
Oh, it’s a great honor. I’ve already been a part of 3 other international events.

JOE GOTFRYD, HEAD COACH:
Also, we hosted the World Games in 2016 in Buffalo, New York. Each time, it’s been an even greater honor.

JOE GOTFRYD, HEAD COACH:
Not only is it such an honor, but it’s a joy to watch some of these players with us today, who have been with us since they were maybe 16 years old. They’re probably in their 20s now. It’s been great to see them grow as players and as individuals.

What does it mean to you to represent the USA?
PETER GINTOLI, TEAM CAPTAIN:
It means everything. Those colors are special. They only get to be worn with some hard work and dedication.

JOE GOTFRYD, HEAD COACH:
Since we all came together for a brief 2 weeks, it’s felt like we’ve built a strong bond and we’ve come together as one.

PETER GINTOLI, TEAM CAPTAIN:
The main thing we need to do is stay disciplined and to remember our game plan. Work hard and know that we have to bring the constant pressure that comes with playing 5-on-5 hockey. It is fun to watch and it’s fun to play.

PETER GINTOLI, TEAM CAPTAIN:
Whenever a game ends, an MVP is picked. The reward for the selected the MVP is kind of funny and pretty interesting.

PETER GINTOLI, TEAM CAPTAIN:
When Curran won the MVP, the team stood around a table and watched Curran open his reward. It was a giant muffin. He lifted it up and we all went nuts. I think we have a picture of that moment!

The team is more important than any individuals whether they’re players or coaches. It doesn’t matter, we’re a team and that’s what’s important.
