Texas outlet mall mass shooting

Transcript: On Saturday afternoon, eight people were murdered in a mass shooting at an outdoor outlet mall in Allen, Texas, which is near Dallas.

Videos show that the gunman drove up to a parking lot, got out, and started firing at people who were walking in front of stores. A police officer who happened to be at the mall on an unrelated call heard the gunfire and killed the gunman.

There are graphic videos on social media that show the gunman lying dead in a pool of blood. You can see that he has a large AR-15 type rifle and many ammunition magazines in a belt.

There are also graphic, tragic videos that show some of the victims, One video shows the crumpled and mangled bodies of at least four victims, including a child, lying on a sidewalk.

A local hospital spokesperson said the victims’ ages range from 5 to 61. Their identities have not been released yet but that information may come later today. The gunman’s identity hasn’t been released but he appears to be a man in his 40s or 50s.

Seven people were wounded. People who were at the mall said it was a scene of panic and fear.

The Gun Violence Archive said there have been 199 mass shootings in 2023 in America. It has been an especially deadly week with this shooting in Allen, the shooting at a medical building in Atlanta, and the Texas neighbor shooting.
