Starbucks unveils ASL drinkware designs by Yiqiao Wang

Starbucks announced about two weeks ago that it is selling a special collection of cups and mugs by the deaf artist and illustrator Yiqiao Wang. The designs include handshapes signing “connect” and coffee cherries and leaves.

Starbucks said they will sell a 24-ounce cold cup, a 16-ounce stainless steel tumbler and a 12-ounce ceramic mug and that it will be available at Starbucks stores across the U.S.

Wang, in a statement for Starbucks’ press release, said she was trying to clearly portray ASL handshapes and movement in a visual way.

Wang previously worked with Starbucks, creating the large mural that adorns a main wall at the “Signing Store” Starbucks near Gallaudet in D.C.
