It is September 19. Here are today’s top stories.

Biden, Zelensky give speeches before UN General Assembly

President Joe Biden gave an address before the UN General Assembly today to call for more international support for Ukraine.

Biden said Russia alone bears responsibility for this war. Russia alone has the power to end this war immediately.

Biden said he thinks Russia believes that the world will become tired of the war and stop providing support to Ukraine. Biden warned that if we allow Ukraine to be carved up, then no country’s sovereignty is secure.

Ukrainian President Zelenskyy also gave a speech at the UN, telling the world that it must unite to defeat Russia’s aggression.

Zelenskyy said Russia is committing genocide by taking Ukrainian children to Russia, weaponizing a nuclear power plant in Ukraine by occupying it, and weaponizing the global food supply by attacking port cities.

Debris of missing F-35 found

The U.S. military said crews have located a debris field in South Carolina that is linked to the F-35 fighter jet that went missing last weekend after the pilot ejected due to a mishap.

The U.S. Marine Corps has ordered a two-day aviation stand-down to discuss safety fundamentals and flight procedures.

The F-35 was worth about $80 million.

Canada accuses India of killing Canadian Sikh leader

Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau accused the Indian government of sending agents into Canada to kill a well-known Sikh community leader in British Columbia in June.

The deceased leader’s name was Hardeep Singh Nijjar. He advocated for an independent Sikh state in India and was labeled as a terrorist by the Indian government.

Nijjar was shot and killed by two masked persons who then got away with the help of a third suspect who drove a car. The three people have not been identified.

Trudeau said Canadian security agencies have been investigating a potential link between the killing and the Indian government. An Indian diplomat in Canada was expelled.

The Indian government said Trudeau’s claims are absurd.

Axios said the accusation will place further strain on an already tumultuous relationship between India and Canada and place allies of both nations in an awkward position.

Family of four murdered in Illinois

CNN reported that a family of four, including two children, and their three dogs were found shot to death in their home in Illinois.

Police said they don’t believe this is a murder-suicide and are investigating it as a murder. They said the shooting happened overnight Saturday-Sunday. Police said they are not looking for anyone in the area but are asking residents to report anything they might see as suspicious.

The parents’ names were Albert Rolon (38) and Zoraida Bartolomei (32). The two children were boys and students at an elementary school.

A neighbor said they are shocked because it has been a quiet community.

Texas AG Paxton acquitted in impeachment vote

The Texas Senate acquitted Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton of all impeachment charges. It means he can continue to serve in his role.

Paxton was accused of illegally using his political powers to benefit an Austin real estate developer and of firing some of his aides who reported him to law enforcement.

Paxton was impeached by a majority of Texas House Republicans, but Senate Republicans mostly voted to acquit.

Paxton partially blamed the Biden administration for pushing an impeachment. A top Texas Democratic Party leader said as long as Republicans control our government, elected officials won’t face consequences.

Axios reported that the FBI is investigating Paxton.

The bear will be relocated to the Ocala National Forest about 80 miles north of Magic Kingdom.

Florida has about 4,000 black bears.
