Parents of deaf girl arrested due to alleged neglect, filthy home conditions
The second news is a report from LawandCrime.com that the parents of a 15-year-old deaf girl in Volusia County, Florida were arrested and charged with child neglect after school officials made a report that the girl arrived at school looking very dirty and carrying a backpack that had cockroaches in it.
The parents’ names are Christopher Rounds and Samantha Acker.
The report said deputies went to the girl’s home and saw that there were three other children at the home and that the home was filled with garbage and completely infested with cockroaches.
The report said no one in the household knew sign language or could completely communicate with the deaf girl. All four children were placed in the custody of the Department of Children and Families (DCF).
