13 people die in weekend gun violence

At least 13 people were killed by gun violence in various places in America over the weekend.

In Chattanooga, Tennessee, at least 14 people were shot near a nightclub on early Sunday morning. Three people died — two from gunshot wounds and the third from being hit by a fleeing vehicle. Law enforcement said there were multiple shooters and they need the community’s help to identify the suspected shooters.

On late Saturday night in Philadelphia, multiple shooters opened fire on a crowd in an area near clubs and bars. Two men and a woman were killed while 11 were wounded. Police said when they responded to the shooting, they saw several people suffering from gunshot wounds and that one officer saw a suspect firing a handgun into a crowd of people. That officer shot at the suspect and hit him, causing him to drop his gun on the floor and run away. Police weren’t able to catch that suspect.

In Saginaw, Michigan, five people were shot on early Sunday morning with three of them dying. It is unclear who the suspects are.

In Clarendon County, South Carolina, there was a shooting at a graduation party on Saturday with 150 people attending. There was a drive-by shooting with one woman killed and seven others, including five teenagers, were wounded. Police said the shooting may have been gang-related but did not name any suspects. Police found 60 to 70 shell casings at the scene.

In Arizona, a 14-year-old girl was shot and killed at a strip mall in Phoenix early Saturday morning. Eight others were injured. Police said there was a large party gathered and then an altercation led to a shooting. No suspects were named.

Also in Arizona, two men were shot and killed outside a Mesa bar early Sunday. Two others were injured. Police said when they arrived at the scene, they saw a car speeding away and were able to stop it and detain three people in the car. Police found a weapon that was possibly thrown from the car and are investigating.

CBS News said during the Memorial Day weekend, nine people were killed and several dozen were injured in multiple shootings.

Jan 6. Committee to hold first public hearing on Thursday

The Jan. 6 House Committee will have its first public hearing this Thursday, June 9 at 8 p.m. ET. The committee plans to show an overview of what it’s found throughout its 10-month investigation and invite several live witnesses.

The committee has conducted about 1,000 private interviews and has an enormous collection of video clips and photographs of the day of the attack on the Capitol. The committee said they would provide new information and “previously unseen material” about those who tried to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election and prevent the transfer of power.

The committee has written in court filings that it believes Donald Trump violated federal laws such as obstruction of Congress and defrauding the U.S. We’ll see what evidence they plan to present. There will be five public hearings throughout the month of June.

Axios reported that the committee has retained a former president of ABC News and a master documentary storyteller to help weave together and show the investigative material.

A 4-year-old boy named Ryker Webb went missing near his home in northwest Montana on Friday afternoon. The local sheriff’s office used helicopters and drones to search for the boy, but it was difficult because of rain and low visibility.
