Astronauts stuck on ISS have to wait until February

NASA announced that the two astronauts who have been stuck on the International Space Station for almost three months due to problems with their Boeing Starliner spacecraft will have to wait until around February 2025 to return home. NASA said they feel that the safest thing to do is to send a SpaceX Crew Dragon, which has been a reliable spacecraft for crewed missions since 2020, to bring Suni Williams and Butch Wilmore home. SpaceX planned to send a crew of four in February but will now send only two astronauts so there would be two empty seats for Suni and Butch’s return home. NASA said they will help out with tasks on the ISS. There are enough food and supplies for them up there.

Russia launches missile attacks on Ukraine

Ukrainian President Zelenskyy said Russia launched over 200 missiles and drones towards several areas in eastern Ukraine that targeted Ukrainian energy infrastructure. Several people were killed and many were injured. Zelenskyy said he needs for there to be no restrictions on using weapons supplied by the U.S. and other European countries so they can strike back at Russia. “The Hill” explained that the U.S. currently restricts Ukraine from using American-made weapons to strike deep into Russian territory. Zelenskyy said he needs the U.S. and allies to make decisions to give them the power to stop terror.

Telegram CEO arrested in France

The CEO of Telegram, Pavel Durov, was arrested on Saturday night in France after he landed on a private jet. Axios said the arrest appears tied to Telegram’s looser content moderation policies and the company’s unwillingness to cooperate with law enforcement. Axios said the arrest has raised questions about what liability risks social media executives have over the content users share on their platforms. Durov was born in Russia and has French citizenship. Telegram said in a statement that Durov has nothing to hide and that it is absurd to claim that a platform or its owner are responsible for abuse of that platform.
