It is March 25. Hope your weekend was good. Here are today’s top stories.
At least 133 killed in mass shooting at Moscow concert hall
According to Russian news outlets, several gunmen burst into Crocus City Hall, a large music hall on Moscow’s western edge on Friday and sprayed the crowd with automatic gunfire, killing at least 133 people, injuring more than 145 others and setting fire to the venue. There is no final death toll. The search for bodies continues.
Russian authorities are investigating the attack as terrorism. The attack, which left the concert hall in flames with a collapsed roof, was the deadliest attack in Russia in years.
Russian officials have been promoting the idea that, somehow, in some way, Ukraine was behind the brutal attack. Kyiv has dismissed such suggestions.
The Islamic State group has claimed responsibility for the attack in a statement posted on affiliated channels on social media. A U.S. official told a news outlet the U.S. has intelligence confirming the Islamic State’s claims of responsibility, and that they have no reason to doubt those claims.
Four suspects have been arrested by Russian security forces for their alleged direct involvement in the shooting. All – who have appeared to have been beaten and tortured – were charged in the court.
Rescue effort ended after young girl swept away by Chester Creek
Emergency crews were called just after 7 p.m. Saturday for reports that a young girl identified as 6-year-old Lin’ajah Brooker – was swept into Chester Creek in southeastern Pennsylvania.
According to investigators, three girls were playing near the creek when two fell in. One managed to get out of the water while Brooker was swept away. Brooker’s aunt said she went down a little too far with the other kids, and her 7-year-old daughter tried to hold her and Brooker was holding onto her daughter’s coat and the wind probably took her.
Authorities in Delaware County were searching the creek for Lin’ajah Brooker.
Chester Fire Commissioner said boats with thermal imaging were scanning the water on Saturday night while crews searched through nearby trees and debris. They had light towers set up, they also flew some drones that have infrared and thermal imaging technology.
As of Sunday afternoon, authorities say this is no longer a search and rescue effort, but a recovery effort.
Mountain lion attack kills one, injures brother
According to the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office, two brothers were antler shed hunting in Georgetown, California, when the mountain lion attacked the pair.
The attack left the older brother dead and the younger brother injured in a remote area of Northern California on Saturday.
The younger brother called 911 at around 1 p.m. to report being separated from his older brother during the attack.
Deputies began searching the area, and 30 minutes after the 911 call, they found the mountain lion crouched next to the older brother. Shots were fired to scare the animal.
The 21-year-old was dead by the time deputies reached him. The 18-year-old suffered traumatic injuries to his face and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
Experts said mountain lion attacks on humans are rare. The California Department of Fish and Wildlife has reported 13 attacks in the state since 2004, with only one being fatal.

Kate, Princess of Wales, announces she has cancer
The princess of Wales, known as Kate who is married to the heir to the British throne, Prince William, revealed Friday she has been diagnosed with cancer. She described her diagnosis as a huge shock in a video statement released on social media.
The news came two months after she had temporarily stepped away from public life following what Kensington Palace said at the time was surgery for a non-cancerous abdominal condition.
Kate said, “The surgery was successful. However, tests after the operation found cancer had been present. My medical team therefore advised that I should undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy and I am now in the early stages of that treatment.”

The princess added, ‘William and I have been doing everything we can to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family. It has taken us time to explain everything to George, Charlotte and Louis in a way that is appropriate for them and to reassure them that I am going to be ok.”
