Trump aide pleads not guilty

Today Carlos De Oliveira, who is the property manager of Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort in South Florida, appeared in court. He is accused of trying to delete security videos at Mar-a-Lago to prevent investigators from seeing them.

De Oliveira said he is not guilty (pleaded not guilty).

The investigators, who are from the Department of Justice (DOJ), are looking at whether Donald Trump broke the law by keeping classified documents after he left the White House. The DOJ is accusing Trump of working with De Oliveira and another aide, Walt Nauta, to obstruct the government’s investigation.

Trump and Nauta also pleaded not guilty in a previous court appearance in June.

Russian missiles hit Zelenskyy’s hometown

Several missiles fired from Russia hit the Ukrainian city of Kryvyi Rih, damaging a nine-story apartment building and another building at a university. Five people were killed and many were injured.

Kryvyi Rih is Ukrainian President Zelenskyy’s hometown.

A Ukrainian government official said they would not forgive what happened.

Phoenix into 31st straight day of 110F temps

On Sunday, Phoenix had its 31st straight day of temperatures of 110 F or hotter. Today that streak may be broken because weather forecasters say there will be a thunderstorm. The record of 31 straight days has broken the previous record of 18 straight days.

Ohio police chief arrested in Key West for beating homeless man

A police chief from Ohio was arrested in Key West on suspicion that he beat a homeless man for no reason.

The police chief’s name is Chad McArdle and he leads the Boston Heights Police Department.

A news article explained that McArdle told police in Key West that two men attacked him so he fought back. But McArdle’s story changed several times and he did not have wounds on his body that shows he was attacked.

Key West police said a homeless man, the victim, explained that he was kicked in the back by an unknown man and was kicked again several times when he was on the ground.

Key West police decided to arrest McArdle. He was charged with one count of battery.

Swimmer Katie Ledecky breaks Phelps’ record

American swimmer Katie Ledecky broke Michael Phelps’ record for the most individual world swimming championships.

She won her record 16th world championship on Saturday when she won the 800-meter freestyle.

Ledecky is 26 years old and has six individual Olympic gold medals. She plans to compete in the Paris 2024 Olympics so we can expect her to win more medals and championships.
