Child playing with lighter causes fire at NFL star’s home

The home of NFL star wide receiver Tyreek Hill, of the Miami Dolphins, caught on fire on Wednesday afternoon in southern Florida. Hill was not at home at the time the fire started but some of his family were there. Nobody was injured.

The local fire marshal said the fire was started by a child playing with a cigarette lighter in a bedroom. It is considered an accidental fire. The home is worth about $7 million and news videos showed that there was a serious blaze coming from the home’s second floor and roof. Hill was seen arriving at the scene and surveying the damage.

Hill’s agent said they are very grateful that nobody was injured, no pets were injured, and are grateful to the firefighters who put the fire out.

Updates on Iowa school shooting

The shooter who opened fire at the Perry High School in Iowa on Thursday morning is a 17-year-old male student named Dylan Butler. Police said he killed a sixth grader and wounded four other students and a school administrator before killing himself. He had a shotgun and a handgun. School officials explained that there was a breakfast program at the school and that there may have been students of different grades in the school at the time, so that’s why a sixth grader was there and tragically died.

Police said Butler made several social media postings near the time of the shooting. One of the posts was on TikTok and showed Butler inside a school bathroom with a blue duffel bag and a caption that said, “Now we wait.” The post had a song called “Stray Bullet.” Those who knew him said he experienced bullying at school and snapped.

Trump asks Supreme Court to intervene in Colorado ballot case

Donald Trump’s legal team, on Wednesday, officially asked the U.S. Supreme Court to reverse the Colorado Supreme Court’s ruling that his name should be removed from the state’s ballot. Trump’s team said voters should have the right to vote for the candidate of their choice. The Colorado Supreme Court, in December, ruled 4-3 that Trump is not qualified to be on the ballot because he engaged in an insurrection in 2021. Trump is facing the same barrier in Maine and he’s asked a top Maine court to overturn it as well. This is a new problem for Trump, who is already facing a brutal gantlet of four criminal cases in different states and a civil lawsuit in New York. Despite all this, he’s still the strongest Republican in the GOP primary field.

Dog eats $4,000 in cash

A couple in Pittsburgh said their dog ate $4,000 in cash that they had saved up for a home project. The dog’s name is Cecil, a 7-year-old Goldendoodle. The couple posted on Instagram that they had to go through Cecil’s poop to collect pieces of the money, wash it, and put it back together. They said they were able to recover $3,550 and that the bank accepted the cash as long as the serial number was visible on both sides.
