Trump called a “fascist”

Trump’s former chief of staff John Kelly, a retired general, said Trump looks and acts like a fascist. Kamala Harris said she believes that Trump is a fascist.

What is a fascist? One good word that is similar would be a “dictator.” A fascist is where a country is under the rule of a single party with only one person or a small group controlling everything and its military. When people use the word, “fascist,” a name that often pops up is Adolf Hitler.

Trump recently told Fox News that he’s not like Hitler. He said in fact, he’s the opposite of Hitler. Trump said Kelly just wants revenge because he fired him in 2019.

Kelly told the New York Times that Trump prefers the dictator approach to government and if he returns to the White House, he would want to rule like an authoritarian.

Teenager boy charged with killing parents and siblings in Washington

USAToday reported that prosecutors in Washington state charged a 15-year-old boy with killing his parents and three younger siblings, aged 7, 9, and 13, at their home near Seattle on Monday.

Only one person survived — the suspect’s 11-year-old sister. She was shot but played dead until she could run outside to ask a neighbor for help.

The suspect’s name is Andrew Humiston. Police said he tried to frame his brother as the shooter who then committed suicide, but police said based on the evidence, Andrew was the shooter and he tampered with the scene.

The father was Mark Humiston, who was an electrical engineer. The mother was Sarah Humiston, who used to work as a registered nurse.

The surviving sister said their father kept a Glock handgun in a lockbox and that Andrew was the only child that knew the combination. The sister said Andrew just got into a lot of trouble for failing some tests at school.

There were many mourners who held a vigil. Many who knew the family expressed shock and grief.

Ship that caused Baltimore bridge collapse agrees to $101M settlement

The U.S. Department of Justice said it reached a $101 million settlement with the owner and manager of the DALI ship that struck and destroyed a bridge in Baltimore, the Francis Scott Key Bridge. Six people working on the road on the bridge were killed. The bridge collapse sent massive debris into a river and caused traffic problems for months.

The DOJ said the settlement means that the costs of the federal government’s cleanup efforts are borne by the ship’s owner and not the American taxpayer.

The ship owner said the money covers the cost of cleaning up the mess, but it doesn’t mean that they are liable — they said they are not responsible for the incident.

CBS News said there is a separate case from the State of Maryland who are seeking payment for the reconstruction of the bridge. It appears that the owner of DALI will fight back from demands to pay for reconstruction and other liability suits. So it’s going to be an ongoing legal battle.

Los Angeles DA recommends Menendez brothers resentencing

CBS News said the Los Angeles County District Attorney announced he will ask the court to resentence the case of Erik and Lyle Menendez, who are currently serving life sentences for killing their parents in 1989.

The district attorney said he believes the brothers have “paid their debt to society” and would ask for the brothers to become eligible for parole. It will ultimately be up to a judge and a parole board to make the final decision.

During the Menendez trials in the 90s, prosecutors said the brothers committed the murders because they wanted their parents’ money. The defense team said the brothers were abused by the parents in sexual, emotional, and physical ways.

There were two recent Netflix projects that renewed attention to the Menendez brothers’ case.

This is called a “Hollywood vs Broadway” competition.

There will be many fans from Japan watching the game because of Dodgers’ superstar Shohei Ohtani.

The Yankees have its own star in Aaron Judge, who has hit 58 home runs this season.

The Dodgers have won the World Series seven times, while the Yankees have won it a record 27 times.

Game 1 is tonight at 8:08 pm ET in Los Angeles. Game 2 is tomorrow night and it’ll also be in Los Angeles. After that, New York will host three straight games Monday-Wednesday. This is a best of 7 series, so whoever wins four games wins this year’s rings.
