One killed in Vancouver mall shooting
CBS News said one person was killed after someone opened fire in the food court of the Vancouver Mall in Vancouver, Washington state. The suspect is at large.
Police said they are reviewing videos from inside the mall to try and identify the suspect. They said a suspect shot another individual and fired other rounds that struck and injured two other people.
There were people sheltering in place at the mall and a reunification area for those separated during the shooting was set up at a nearby Hobby Lobby.
One deaf person told “The Daily Moth” that he and other deaf people were at the mall at the time. My thoughts are with you and others.

Canadian police seize large, sophisticated drug lab
Police in Canada said they found and seized what they believe is the largest and most sophisticated illicit drug “super lab” in the country that produced fentanyl and meth.
The drug lab is in Falkland, British Columbia and there were a few other smaller locations associated with the super lab.
One person, Gaganpreet Randhawa, was placed into custody and police expect more arrests in the future.
Police said they seized almost 1,000 pounds of meth, over 100 pounds of fentanyl, and massive amounts of precursor chemicals.
Canadian police wore protective suits when they entered the lab and retrieved items, probably because fentanyl is very deadly. They also seized almost 90 firearms.

Texas hospitals will ask patients if they are legally in US
CNN reported that hospitals in Texas will now ask patients if they are in the U.S. legally, but patients are allowed to say they don’t want to answer.
This policy was enacted by an order by Gov. Greg Abbott (R), who said he intends for hospitals to track spending on patients who aren’t legal residents so the state can try to recover the money from the federal government.
CNN said Florida has a similar policy. Both the Texas and Florida governments have been in clashes with the Biden administration over how they handled illegal crossings along the southern border.
Critics said the policy may cause confusion and fear among immigrant communities.
A hospital association in Texas said the new policy does not change hospital care and that hospitals continue to be a safe place for needed care.
