Deaf News Briefs: Keivonn Woodard honored by TIME; Rose Ayling-Ellis to host British coverage of Paralympics

Keivonn Woodard honored by TIME

Here are two Deaf News briefs.

The first: Keivonn Woodard, the award-winning young Deaf actor who had a breakout role in HBO’s “The Last of Us,” was honored in “TIME’s 2024 Kid of the Year” list. He was an honoree under the “Acting for representation” category. TIME did a nice recap of how Keivonn got his acting opportunities and how he impressed those in the film industry. So, this is yet another achievement for this 11-year-old star, who is already working on at least three new projects.

Rose Ayling-Ellis to host British coverage of Paralympics

The second Deaf News brief is that British Deaf actress and former dancing champion Rose Ayling-Ellis will be one of the hosts of U.K.’s Channel 4 coverage of the Paralympic Games. BBC said she will host a daily show called Afternoon Live and that there will be live British Sign Language (BSL) signing. She is going to be the first deaf person to host live sports coverage on TV.

That’s the two Deaf News briefs for today.
