Trucker protest in Ottawa ends

The anti-vaccine mandate protests in Ottawa, Canada that occupied the city for three weeks with many truck drivers blocking streets has ended after police arrested 191 people and towed 76 vehicles. The protests first started with truck drivers traveling in a "Freedom Convoy" to oppose vaccine mandates on truck drivers driving across the border. The protest grew into a wider movement of people who are opposed to Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau and his administration’s array of rules and restrictions on coronavirus. Trudeau recently invoked emergency powers that allowed the government to freeze bank accounts of those who blocked the streets and take other tough measures to take back the city.

Queen Elizabeth infected with Covid-19

Queen Elizabeth, who is 95 years old, tested positive for the coronavirus. She has mild cold-like symptoms and is taking it light this week. She is triple-vaccinated. There has been an outbreak of the virus within members or those close to the British Royal Family over the past weeks. There were many world leaders who sent her well wishes for her recovery.

Jeffrey Epstein’s associate found dead in jail

Jean-Luc Brunel, modeling agent, who was close to Jeffrey Epstein was found dead Saturday in his French jail cell. He was being held in investigation into the rape of minors and trafficking of minors for sexual exploitation. Victims of the alleged abuse were shocked and dismayed that Jean-Luc Brunel will never face trial. They found his death as a double blow, after Jeffrey Epstein killed himself in 2019 in a Manhattan jail while awaiting sex-trafficking charges.

2022 Olympics closing ceremony

The Beijing Games officially came to an end with the closing ceremony on Sunday morning. USA’s flag-bearer, Elana Meyers Taylor, walked into Beijing’s National Stadium along with other flag-bearers from participating countries. China President Xi Jinping and Thomas Bach, the president of the International Olympic Committee, were present and sat distanced at a table watching the parade and festivities. After several performances and medal ceremonies, Bach gave a speech about unity and peace. Now we look ahead to the 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy #MilanoCortina26.

A 500-pound Black bear breaking into homes for food

The 500-pound Black bear, nicknamed “Hank the Tank” has broken into nearly 30 homes around South Lake Tahoe, California searching for food. For the last seven months, the bear has caused property damage and has become quite a problem for locals. The locals are tired of having to fear for their lives because they have to be able to protect their children and walk outside of their houses. They agreed to allow the state to use their properties to capture the bear. The traps recently set up in the neighborhood proved unsuccessful and the state is reevaluating its strategies. After it is captured, the bear could be killed or relocated, according to the Department of Fish and Wildlife.
