On Tuesday, 983 people died from the coronavirus. There were 74,410 new cases yesterday alone, and half a million cases in the past week. Over half of U.S. states are at or close to the highest levels of cases they’ve ever seen.
Scientists have predicted this happening because we’re in the fall season with schools in session and there is more indoor activities because of the colder weather — all conditions ideal for the virus to survive and spread.
We are now seeing new lockdowns and restrictions. Chicago is stopping indoor dining and bar service. There is a two week stay-at-home order in El Paso. There is a 8 p.m. business curfew in Newark, N.J.
On Tuesday night the night the LA Dodgers won the World Series, defeating the Tampa Bay Rays. The team’s third baseman, Justin Turner, was pulled from the game after the seventh inning because he tested positive for the coronavirus. His test came back positive in the middle of the game. But he returned on the field to celebrate and hold the trophy and take group pictures, despite his infection.
President Donald Trump gave a campaign rally at an airport in Omaha, Nebraska with hundreds of people in attendance. They were bussed in through the airport, but after the rally, many supporters were stuck outside in freezing temperatures because buses were slow to bring them back to the parking lots. 30 people required medical attention.
Tony Bobulinski, who used to be business partners with Hunter Biden, said in an interview on Fox News that Joe Biden lied last week during the debate when he said he was not involved with his son Hunter’s business relationships and has never taken a penny from any country. Bobulinski said he met with Joe Biden himself in 2017 and talked business. The Biden campaign said Joe has no involvement. The Wall Street Journal said corporate records show no role for Joe Biden. It’s an accusation.
The Trump administration made a move to allow road construction into Alaska’s Tongass National Forest. This is so logging can be expanded. It will affect over 9 million acres of forest. Environmental activists are opposed to this move.
Kim Kardashian West hosted her 40th birthday party at a private island with her family and friends and shared images of them on social media. She said for two weeks prior to the trip, she asked her guests to quarantine themselves so they could be safe and feel “normal” on the island. She acknowledged that she has a very privileged life.
In Egypt, a 12-year-old tourist from Ukraine while snorkeling was attacked by a shark and lost his arm. This happened at a Red Sea resort called Sharm El-Sheikh, which is at the southern tip of the Sinai Peninsula. The shark is a 6 1/2-foot long Oceanic Whitetip shark. It also attacked an Egyptian tour guide, causing him to lose his leg. CBS News said it is rare to see a shark attack happen in Egypt.
