Britain records highest ever temperature of 40.2 C

Today temperatures at London’s Heathrow Airport reached 40.2 degrees C or 104.3 degrees F. It broke a record from 2019 for the highest temperature.

Reuters said Britain is now in a state of national emergency due to the heat. Many train services were canceled due to concern over buckling train tracks.

A smaller airport in London had to shut down because the heat caused a small section of the runway to lift.

A UK government official said much of the British infrastructure was built during the Victorian era (1850’s to the 1900’s) and wasn’t built to withstand this type of temperature.

Four-year-old shoots at cops in Utah

Police in the Salt Lake City, Utah area released body camera footage that showed a four-year-old boy shooting at officers while his father was being detained outside of a McDonald’s. The incident was in February.

Police said they went to the McDonald’s because employees reported that a man was threatening them with a gun at a drive-thru due to his order being messed up.

When cops arrived and detained the man, they came under fire and seemed ready to shoot back before they realized it was a child. They shouted, “Kids! Kids.” Inside the car was the four-year-old and a 3-year-old sibling. Fortunately, nobody was shot. An officer said if the kid aimed a bit lower, they could have hit his head.

The four-year-old told officers that he grabbed his father’s gun and tried to shoot the police so his father could be free and do what he wanted.

News reports said the father, Sadaat Johnson, admitted that it was not the first time that his four-year-old son handled his gun. Last month, he was convicted of child abuse and assault.
