Tuesday, January 10 top stories
It is Tuesday, January 10. Here are today’s top stories.
Husband of missing mom charged with misleading investigators
In Massachusetts, a woman named Ana Walshe, who is a mother of three, was reported missing by her coworkers on January 4. Her husband, Brian Walshe, has been charged with misleading investigators. He has pleaded not guilty. Brian said the last time he saw Ana was on January 1 when she said she had to fly to D.C. for a work emergency.
Police conducted a large search for Ana last week around the family’s home in Cohasset. They said Ana’s phone pinged near the home on January 1 and 2, which is when she was supposed to be in D.C. according to her husband.
Police said Ana’s disappearance is suspicious. Prosecutors said they found that Brian’s internet records showed searches for how to dismember and “dispose of a 115-pound woman’s body” and that they found, in the couple’s basement, blood and a bloodied knife. Law enforcement also said the husband spent about $450 on cleaning supplies during the week Ana disappeared.
CNN explained that Brian is already awaiting sentencing for a separate and previous federal fraud conviction for selling fake paintings on eBay. He is currently under home-confinement conditions and is wearing an ankle bracelet.
Police are now searching through trash dumpsters at various locations for the potential remains of Ana.
Pentagon to train Ukrainians on missile defenses
The Pentagon plans to bring Ukrainian troops to Oklahoma in several weeks to train them how to use the Patriot missile defense system. The training will be at Fort Sill.
The Biden administration has already approved sending a Patriot missile defense system to Ukraine and Germany is planning to send Patriot weapons to Ukraine as well.
The training may take several months. The missile system has its own advanced radar that can detect and intercept incoming missiles. The system is also capable of shooting down enemy aircraft or drones.
Bills’ Damar Hamlin back to Buffalo
Buffalo Bills player Damar Hamlin is now walking and eating regular food. He posted on Instagram on Sunday an image of himself holding up a heart sign from his hospital bed in Cincinnati. He tweeted yesterday that he is now back in Buffalo to continue his recovery at a Buffalo-area hospital.
His doctors said he is doing well and that he is now in the “next stage of his recovery” from a scary cardiac arrest incident last Monday during a football game.
Hamlin said it is an amazing feeling to see the outpouring of support for his recovery the past few days. He said he wants to send the same love back into the world and more.
Hamlin is 24 years old and grew up in the Pittsburgh area.

Biden classified documents found in private office
CBS News reported last night that on November 2, President Biden’s personal attorneys found about 10 classified documents from Biden’s time as vice president in his private office in D.C. The attorneys were involved in the process of vacating office space. This office, the Penn Biden Center, is about a mile from the White House.
The White House said it informed the National Archives about the discovery and that they obtained the documents the next day.
CBS News said the National Archives then notified the Justice Department. Attorney General Merrick Garland then assigned a U.S. Attorney (federal prosecutor) to investigate how the classified material arrived at the private office.
As we know from Donald Trump’s classified documents controversy at Mar-a-Lago, it is required by federal law for all presidential and vice-presidential documents to be turned over to the National Archives and for classified documents to be kept secure.
MMA star Victoria Lee dies at 18
Victoria Lee, who was a rising MMA star fighting with ONE Championship, passed away at the age of 18. Her sister, Angela, made the announcement on Saturday saying she has gone too soon and that their family has been completely devastated. She died on December 26 and it is not known the cause. It is possible that she died of suicide because her sister encouraged people to check on their loved ones because “you just never know.”
Lee was born and raised in Hawaii, where she was a state wrestling champion. She won three fights in her MMA career and just graduated from high school last year. She had a fight scheduled for this Friday.
Georgia election probe on Trump concludes
A special grand jury in Georgia that was investigating whether former President Donald Trump committed crimes by trying to overturn the 2020 election has concluded its work and has submitted a report. There will be a hearing on January 24 — two weeks from today — on whether that report should be released to the public. That report could include recommendations for charges. Fulton County DA Fani Willis would have the final say on any potential charges.
The investigation focuses on Trump’s pressure on Georgia state officials to find more votes to put him ahead of Joe Biden and other actions related to the 2020 election. Trump said the DA is on a witch hunt.
