TRUMP FOUND GUILTY ON ALL CHARGES
Donald Trump was found guilty on all 34 felony counts in his New York trial over the accusation of falsifying business records to try and cover up a $130,000 payment to adult film actress Stormy Daniels to keep her quiet about an alleged affair. The payment, which was made through Trump’s former attorney Michael Cohen, happened right before the 2016 election and was considered by authorities as an attempt to keep this information from coming out and influencing voters.
This cover-up, payment, and timing with the election is considered illegal. That’s why he was on a trial. It lasted a month and was the first criminal trial involving a former president. The jury deliberated for two days before issuing the verdict.
Trump is facing more criminal cases in the future but whether they will happen or change will depend on how he does in the presidential election against Joe Biden in November. But for now, Trump is the first former president to have been convicted of a crime. He’s a felon.
Trump has maintained for a long time that the prosecution is politically motivated. Right after the jury issued its guilty verdict, Trump’s 2024 campaign manager said “The FIX was always in.”
Trump’s legal team is likely to appeal the verdict and the process will likely run past the 2024 election.
