Troy Kotsur to play CSDR coach in Disney+ series

Deadline reported that Disney+ is developing a TV series about the California School for the Deaf, Riverside’s successful football season in 2021 and that Troy Kotsur will star as the team’s coach.

Kotsur will also be one of the executive producers. Marlee Matlin will also be an executive producer. Both are deaf Oscar winners.

John Maucere, a deaf actor, is named as a consultant and a co-producer.

Deadline said Disney and ABC will partner with CSDR and the California Department of Education to “tell the story of the team’s historical undefeated season and how it earned a spot in the California State Championship game for the first time in school history.”

The CSDR coach’s name is Keith Adams and two of his sons, Kaden and Trevin, played on the team.

There is no information yet on when filming will start and when a potential release date is. News reports said the series will include people from the Deaf community as a part of its cast, writing and production team.
