Man who killed musician Nipsey Hussle is sentenced
On Wednesday, a judge in Los Angeles sentenced the man who shot and killed Nipsey Hussle, a successful and rising musician, to 60 years to life in prison.
The man’s name is Eric R. Holder Jr. and he is 33 years old.
The shooting happened outside of Nipsey’s clothing store in Los Angeles in March 2019. There was a murder trial in July 2022 that found Holder guilty.
Prosecutors said the two men knew each other for years prior to the shooting because they were aspiring rappers in Los Angeles. Holder became angry after he heard that Nipsey called him a snitch and shot him at least 10 times.
In August, Nipsey was posthumously honored by getting a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Many people still listen to his music.
New Mercedes cars has camera on dashboard
Some new models of Mercedes-Benz cars will have a small camera built into the top of the dashboard facing the driver and passenger seats. That means you can make videos while inside of your car, but the car has to be parked.
The car will allow drivers to install apps like Zoom so they can join video meetings. There is a touchscreen that allows drivers to go on the internet.
We know that deaf people like to make videos while they are in their car and sometimes it’s hard to find a place to mount a phone. If you have this new Benz, no worries. Prices start at around $56,000.
Florida TV journalist, woman and child killed
Dylan Lyons, a reporter with Spectrum News 13, was with a news crew on the scene to cover the slaying of a woman who had been found shot near Orlando, Florida earlier that Wednesday morning.
Sheriff John Mina explained that Keith Melvin Moses, 19, the suspect in the woman’s killing, went back to the scene and opened fire on Lyons with other news crew members. As a result, Lyons died from his gunshot injuries. Mina added the suspect also shot and killed a 9-year old girl. Mina later identified that woman as Natacha Augustin, 38.
Lyons’ family said he was engaged to be married and a devoted son to his parents. He would have been 25 years old in March and that he was a happy soul and wonderful person.

3,500-year-old bear discovered and dissected
A team of scientists performed a necropsy on an almost perfectly preserved 3,500-year-old female brown bear in eastern Siberia after it was discovered by reindeer herders on a desolate island in the Arctic.
Maxim Cheprasov, the laboratory chief at the Mammoth Museum in Yakutsk, said this find is absolutely unique because it is the complete carcass of an ancient brown bear.
The extreme cold temperatures helped preserve the bear’s soft tissue for 3,460 years. The genetic analysis has shown that the bear does not differ in mitochondrial DNA from the modern bear from the northeast of Russia. The bear is described as being around 5 feet tall, weighing 172 pounds and aged about 2-3 years. It died from an injury to its spinal column.
Companies can no longer silence laid-off employees
If your company lays you off, they might offer you severance pay - but only if you agree to adhere to a number of restrictions. Staying quiet is often one of them. Severance pay is frequently granted to employees upon termination of employment and there is no requirement for it by the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
The National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) this week put employers on notice that they can no longer silence laid-off employees in two very specific ways that violates employees’ rights under two sections of the NLR Act.
The NLR board wrote in its decision that employers cannot include a confidentiality clause that requires you to keep mum about the terms of your severance agreement. And they cannot include a non-disparagement clause that prohibits you from discussing the terms and conditions of your employment with third parties.
That is all the top stories for today and stay with the light!
