Bob Saget cause of death
Bob Saget’s family said that his cause of death was head trauma. He hit his head on something before going to sleep last month in a hotel room in Orlando. The family said authorities said they believe Saget accidentally hit the back of his head on something, thought nothing of it and went to sleep, and died from the injury. No drugs or alcohol were involved. Saget was 65.
Canadian trucker protests continues
The Canadian trucker protests against Covid-19 vaccines and rules has continued to block a key bridge connecting Detroit, Michigan to Windsor, Ontario. Another critical international bridge about a hour north, the Blue Water Bridge, is also starting to be blocked up.
Automakers in both Michigan and Ontario, such as Ford, GM, or Toyota, said they had to either halt production or slow down production due to a shortage of parts because of the trucker blockades.
A third international border crossing in Manitoba was blocked by protesters using several vehicles and farm equipment.
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security issued a warning that there may be similar protests here in the U.S. with truck drivers blocking roads leading to major U.S. cities.
Congress passes sexual harassment bill
Congress passed a bipartisan bill that aims to protect victims of workplace sexual harassment. The bill will forbid companies from using a secretive arbitration process to deal with allegations of sexual harassment and sexual assault. Victims would be able to sue their employers in court, which makes it a public process. President Biden is expected to sign the bill into law.
Former Fox News host Gretchen Carlson is credited with leading the effort on the bill. In 2016, Carlson tried to file a sexual harassment suit against Fox, but she was told that an employment agreement she signed required her to go to arbitration instead. She and her lawyers managed to find a way past that obstacle and sued former Fox News president Roger Ailes directly, which contributed to the end of his career. Carlson won a $20 million settlement.

Fauci: Pandemic restrictions could end soon
Dr. Fauci said in an interview that he believes we are heading out of the “full-blown pandemic phase of Covid-19.” He said he hopes we are looking at a time when we have enough people vaccinated and enough people with protection from previous infection that the Covid-19 restrictions will soon be a thing of the past. He believes that pandemic rules and restrictions from the federal level will start being scaled down to allow states and local communities to make their own decisions on vaccinations and masks.

Gaps in Trump White House phone logs on Jan. 6
The Jan 6. House Committee said there are gaps in the official Trump White House telephone logs on the day of the Capitol riot. Investigators know that Trump had multiple phone calls, but they’re not in the records. It is possible that Trump used his personal cellphone or his aides’ cellphones, so investigators will want to get those records.
In separate but related news, Trump is accused of not handing over all of his records from his time as president to the National Archives and Records Administration, which is required under federal law. Trump had to return 15 boxes of documents from his Mar-a-Lago estate, and the documents included the “love letters” he received from North Korean leader Kim Jong-un and a letter he received from former President Obama. Trump recently said he was told that he is under no obligation to turn over his records.
There was also a report that came out today that said Trump would sometimes flush papers down a toilet in the White House. Trump said this is “another fake story.”
That is all the top stories for today. See you tomorrow and stay with the light.
