More Democratic candidates in 2020 race

The field of Democratic candidates for president is already crowded, but one more candidate will join the race, another seems close, and Hillary Clinton is still flirting with running.

The first candidate is former Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick. He was the state’s first black governor and served from 2007 to 2015. He officially announced he is running in a captioned Twitter video. He said he grew up in the South Side of Chicago and was the first in his family to go to college. Patrick is up against another candidate from Massachusetts — Sen. Elizabeth Warren. Why now? The New York Times reported that Patrick has told people that he doesn’t think the current crop of candidates have established political momentum.

The second candidate is Michael Bloomberg, who has a net worth of about $55 billion and is and a former New York City mayor. He is 77 years old. Reports say he is interviewing potential campaign staffers and may make a formal announcement to run. He recently registered for the Alabama and Arkansas Democratic primaries, which have some of the earliest deadlines. A representative for Bloomberg told Fox News that he is making the moves because he is concerned that the current field of candidates are not “well-positioned to defeat Trump.”

Now, Hillary Clinton. She told BBC Radio on Tuesday that she thinks about being president all the time and that she is under enormous pressure from “many, many, many” people to think about running, but that it’s not in her plans at the time. She said she “never says never to anything.” She did admit that it was “way past time” to enter the race.

Walmart in El Paso reopens 3 months after “domestic terrorism” attack

The Walmart in El Paso where 22 people were shot and killed by a suspected domestic terrorist three months ago has now reopened. 8 of the victims were Mexican nationals.

The store was renovated and there is an #ElPasoStrong banner at the store’s front. CNN reported that employees and customers applauded before entering the store. They then cheered and hugged each other.

Walmart is building a memorial called “The Grand Candela” that will be located within the store’s parking lot. It will have 22 tall aluminum bars that is set in a circle with a bright beam in it to make it look like a large candle. The 22 bars will honor the 22 victims. The memorial is still under construction but is expected to open within weeks.

The suspected gunman Patrick Crusius is in custody and pleaded not guilty in October to killing 22 people with an AK-47 rifle. Police said when he was arrested on the day of the shooting on August 3, he said he wanted to kill as many Mexicans as possible.

Federal authorities said the shooting is an act of domestic terrorism and that Crusius could face hate crimes prosecution.

Maryland man arrested over Popeyes fatal stabbing

A man from Maryland has been arrested and charged with stabbing a man to death after they argued about his cutting in line for a popular Popeyes chicken sandwich.

The stabbing happened last Monday night in Oxon Hill, Maryland, near Washington, D.C.

Police said the suspect, Ricoh McClain first verbally confronted the victim, Kevin Davis after he cut in line. They then agreed to fight outside in the parking lot, and that’s when McClain allegedly stabbed Davis once. The suspect fled the scene. Davis was taken to a hospital and died there.

On Wednesday (yesterday), police identified McClain and offered a $25,000 reward for information leading to his arrest. McClain was arrested last night.

A police spokesperson said that it was very “sad and tragic” that there is this kind of anger and violence over a sandwich.

There have been a few news headlines about violence at Popeyes restaurants from people becoming angry while waiting in line or at a drive thru to try the new chicken sandwich.

Missing American CODA woman in Toronto

There is a 34-year-old American woman who is a CODA (child of deaf adults) who has been missing since October 22. Her name is April Burkle. She is from Baytown, Texas and was last seen in Toronto, Ontario, Canada on October 21.

She is officially listed as a missing person by Texas EquuSearch and the Toronto Police, and both organizations have posted on social media for the public’s help in finding her.

A friend of April, Alexis Cauthen, reached out to “The Daily Moth” to ask for the public’s help for any information on her whereabouts. Cauthen has already reached out to several news organizations who have posted articles.

Cauthen said she is concerned about April’s mental health because she is traumatized from losing her two sons in 2014 from an EF4 tornado that hit Vilonia, Arkansas.

A KATV news article in Arkansas confirms that April lost two boys, ages 7 and 8, from a tornado. The storm killed 14 other people. April was formerly married to a man named Daniel Smith.

Cauthen said she believes if April is in some trouble or suffering from some kind of mental health crisis, she would likely find comfort and seek help through the deaf community. She said April is fluent in ASL.

Cauthen said after the tornado incident, she traveled across the country to speak about her experiences and sang worship music at churches, but that lately she has not been acting like herself.

Cauthen explained that she flew to Toronto to visit a friend in Hamilton on October 10 but was frantic and upset in the airport. She refused to ride with the friend to leave the airport. She then got on a cab to go to Toronto.

She was last heard from on October 21 when she was at a Toronto police station with a 44-year-old mental health patient who had left his facility without permission.

If you have any information, Cauthen is asking you to reach out by texting the tip line at 501-269-0770 or to call the Toronto Police.
