It is September 8. Here are today’s top stories.

Hurricane Lee now between Category 4 and 5

Hurricane Lee strengthened into a Category 5 storm last night but weakened to a Category 4 storm today.

The National Hurricane Center said Lee “made an exceptional intensity leap of 80 mph in 24 hours.” It had sustained winds of up to 180 mph but is now below 160 mph. It is still a very strong and dangerous storm.

Weather forecasters said it is still about a week to 10 days away from a potential threat to the U.S. coast, but they think it will stay far enough north of the Leeward Islands and Puerto Rico to avoid significant impacts.

Musk withheld satellite service to prevent Ukrainian attack

Elon Musk said it is true that he prevented Ukraine’s armed forces from having access to his satellite internet service Starlink last September because he didn’t want the Ukrainian military to use the internet service to guide a Ukrainian drone to attack a Russian naval fleet in Crimea.

The information was revealed in an upcoming biography by author Walter Isaacson titled, “Elon Musk.”

Musk said he decided to cut off internet access in Crimea because he was worried that an attack on Crimea could spiral into a nuclear conflict. He said the drone attack could have sunk most of Russia’s naval fleet and he didn’t want Starlink / SpaceX to be a part of a major act of war.

A top Ukrainian government official said Musk has a mix of ignorance and a big ego and that because of his “interference,” he has allowed Russia’s navy to fire cruise missiles at Ukrainian cities, killing civilians and children.

However, Musk has helped Ukraine tremendously by sending the country over 40,000 Starlink terminals that provide internet access across Ukraine, which are in use by hospitals, businesses, organizations, and Ukraine’s army.

Spicy “One Chip Challenge” pulled from stores after teen’s death

The company that created the spicy “One Chip Challenge” product has removed it from stores after a 14-year-old boy in Massachusetts died last week after eating a chip.

The Washington Post explained that the boy ate a chip at school and died a few hours later. He fainted at school and when he got home, he passed out again. He was taken to an emergency room, where he died.

The state medical examiner is investigating the death and said it may take weeks to determine the cause of death.

The chip is covered with seasoning from the world’s most spiciest chile peppers.

The company, Paqui, said the chip is intended for adults only and that it adheres to food safety standards, but is removing the product out of an abundance of caution.

There are online comments by people who said the chip will give you a terrible time, that it is like “eating bear mace times 3.”

A federal grand jury indicted him with contempt of Congress and now he is found guilty. He will be sentenced on January 12.

Another Trump aide, Steve Bannon, also refused to comply with a subpoena and was sentenced to four months in prison, but his case is being appealed.

Human skull found in donation box to Goodwill

An employee at a Goodwill store in Arizona called the police after finding a human skull in a donation box. An image shows that the skull had a single prosthetic blue eye.

The employee thought it may be related to a criminal or a missing-persons case, but police said after studying the skull, it is likely not related to a criminal case. They said the skull appears to be historic and ancient.
