Bus carrying high school band crashes
On Thursday in New York, a bus carrying 40 high school students and four adults to a band camp event tumbled down a 50-foot ravine.
Two adults died and several students were injured. Police said it seems like the front tire failed, causing the crash.
“Face” of Hawaiian Airlines logo passes away
The woman behind the Hawaiian Airlines logo has passed away. Her name was Leina’ala Ann Teruya Drummond. She was Miss Hawaii in 1964 and worked at the airline as a flight attendant when she was 18 and was selected to have her face become the airline’s logo. Drummond died of cancer in Hilo, Hawaii on Monday. She was 77.
Biden adm. wants medical bills removed from credit scores
AP News reported that the Biden administration is making moves towards removing medical bills from people’s credit scores in an aim to help millions of people improve their credit scores. About one in five people reported they have medical debt. Better credit scores mean more Americans can get an auto loan or a home mortgage. The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau is beginning the rulemaking process to make the change.

Sen. Menendez, wife indicted on bribery charges
Federal prosecutors have indicted New Jersey Sen. Bob Menendez (D) and his wife Nadine on charges of bribery. The senator is accused of using his position in various schemes at home and abroad. The couple are accused of accepting hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of bribes which consisted of cash, gold bars, payments towards a home mortgage, and other things.
The senator denied all the allegations. The senator was previously indicted on different but similar charges and his case ended due to a deadlocked jury. He is the first sitting senator in U.S. history to be indicted on two unrelated criminal allegations. Menendez is up for reelection next year.
Sophie Turner sues Joe Jonas to return 2 kids to England
Actress Sophie Turner and musician Joe Jonas are in the process of divorcing and now Turner has filed legal action to return their two children to England, where Turner is from.
Turner is accusing Jones of refusing to allow their two young children to travel to England with her and that he is refusing to hand over their passports.
Jonas’ representative said the children were born in the U.S., are American citizens, and that it is a violation of a law to relocate the children.
UAW expands strike against GM and Stellantis
The United Auto Workers union said it would expand its strike against General Motors (Chevrolet/GMC) and Stellantis (Dodge/Jeep). The UAW is not taking more action against Ford.
The UAW is imposing work stoppages at all 38 parts distribution centers at GM and Stellantis. The UAW is demanding wage increases and better benefits for its 150,000 workers.
UAW’s president said its made good progress with Ford, but they need to push Stellantis and GM.
