Recap of Raven Sutton in “The Circle” Episodes 1-4

I watched Raven Sutton’s journey on the show, “The Circle” on Netflix. They recently released Episodes 1-4. I’m excited to share a recap but I have to warn you that this will have some spoilers.

In the show, Raven did not hide her Deaf identity. She showed herself signing and did not “catfish” herself. She introduced herself as a 26-year-old from Maryland who is “DeafasF—.” She said she is proud to be Deaf and was born Deaf from a third-generation Deaf family. ASL is her first language. Although she can speak, she prefers not to use her voice and feels more comfortable using sign language.

Raven sat down with Paris and explained that his role is to be an interpreter. During the game, Raven would represent herself fully and Paris would only speak what she signed.

“The Circle” opened a chat and players could see each other for the first time. Raven was the first person to send a message and initiated the conversation. The platform uses only text messages for chats and when you say “send,” it sends a message. Raven seemed fine with communicating with other players in the group because it is also a text-based system.

Marvin, one of the players, entered the group chat and sent a message. When Raven saw him, she said it was “Love at first chat.” She asked “The Circle” to please bring her to Marvin’s profile. When it opened up, Raven was sitting on a bed and fell backward while saying, “Oohhh!”

Raven and Chaz were voted as influencers by the group. That means they were the most well-liked and trusted people.

There was a twist in the show. The two influencers were given the power to eliminate two people: Xanthi and Brett. They were sent home.

Marvin later invited Raven for a private chat. The two flirted and talked about their backgrounds. Raven taught Marvin how to sign, “fire.”

In the second round of ratings, Raven won as an influencer again. She came in second, while Chaz came in the first place.

On the next day, the group played a game called “Single Pringle.” They had to create each other’s dating profiles, but anonymously. One of the players decided to try and hurt Raven’s reputation in the game by typing down that her worst habit is that she “can’t stay loyal.” Also, two out of three words to describe her were “insensitive” and “shady.”

Brittney sent a private chat to Raven to show support. Raven opened up that her mother passed away three years ago. Raven became emotional.

Chaz and Raven, as influencers, had to decide who to eliminate next from “The Circle.” They went back and forth and decided to eliminate Brittney.

That’s the recap. Clearly, you can see that Raven had an immediate impact on the show. She is one of the strongest players! Netflix will release the next four episodes, 5-8, on Wednesday, January 4.
