President Trump to leave hospital
President Donald Trump tweeted this afternoon that he will be leaving the Walter Reed Medical Center this evening at 6:30 pm. He said he is feeling really good and told Americans that they shouldn’t be afraid of Covid-19 or allow it to dominate our lives.
The President’s physician Dr. Sean Conley and his team of doctors said Trump would still get 24/7 medical care at the White House and said that he is not “entirely out of the woods yet.” Dr. Conley said Trump received oxygen two times. He wouldn’t comment on what they saw in Trump’s lung scans. He also said none of the doctors advised him against leaving the hospital.
Reporters asked Dr. Conley on when Trump’s last negative Covid-19 test was and he said “I don’t want to go backwards.”
Trump received an experimental drug from Regeneron on Friday that provided him with antibodies to fight against the coronavirus. Trump also received a steroid called dexamethasone, which can help with breathing problems, and is on several days of a drug called remdesivir, which can stop the virus’ ability to multiply.
On Sunday President Donald Trump did a drive-by in his presidential SUV to wave to supporters who were standing outside of the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. There was a lot of criticism towards Trump for driving because it risked the lives of the two Secret Service agents who were clothed in full PPE gear in the front seat. They may have to be quarantined for 14 days. Trump tweeted today that if he didn’t do the drive-by, he would have been criticized as “rude.”

In related news, the White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany announced this morning that she tested positive for Covid-19 this morning and has no symptoms. She said she will go into quarantine and work remotely. This afternoon, news broke that two of McEnany’s assistants tested positive for Covid-19. She is the seventh staffer from the White House to become infected in an outbreak that seems to have come from the Rose Garden event last Saturday for the Supreme Court nomination of Amy Coney Barrett.
Barrett tested negative for the coronavirus, but at least two Republican Senators who were in attendance said they tested positive. A third Republican senator, Ron Johnson (Wis.) said he tested positive but it was from exposure to an infected person as he did not attend the Rose Garden ceremony.
Chris Christie, the former governor of New Jersey, tested positive for the coronavirus. He may have contracted it from helping Trump prepare for last week’s debate. He checked himself in the hospital because he has a history of asthma.
