Mavrick Fisher murder trial venue

CALLIE FRYE:

Hello! I am Callie Frye (signs name). Last week Alex mentioned that I would be coming here to cover the Mavrick Fisher’s murder trial. I’m here. I am here in Lakeport.

If you are wondering about the sign behind me, it’s because the Mavrick trial will not take place in a courthouse, but here at the Lake County Fairgrounds.

Do you see the sign behind me? It says “Court Entry.” That’s where I will be walking through tomorrow for the trial. I will be going down that sidewalk going forward.

Do you see the white building behind me? That is where the trial will take place. There will be people coming here. It’s the back of the building, but I’ll film the front of the building tomorrow so you can see it.

The weather is gorgeous. It is warm, sunny, and in the 75’s. But on Sunday morning, the electricity in the city was shut off due to strong winds and fire risk. The power should come back on tomorrow anytime.

ALEX ABENCHUCHAN:

Thank you, Callie for the report and for showing us what it looks like. The reason why it is at the fairgrounds is because the courtroom building’s courtrooms are too small for California’s Covid-19 regulations, such as 6 feet of social distancing and masks. There are simply too many people with the 12-member jury, the District Attorney, the defense attorney, the defendant, the gallery, and the interpreters. So they decided to use the fairgrounds, which is not normal, but they made it work. It will be a long trial that is expected to last a month, so they really took measures to move it there.

The jury selection process started last week on Wednesday. It continued on Thursday, Friday, and all day today, and it’s finished. I reached out to both the District Attorney and the defense attorney and both confirmed that the 12 jurors have been selected and that the trial will start tomorrow morning on Tuesday, October 27 at 9:00 a.m. California time. That is 12:00 pm ET. Callie will be filming it and streaming it LIVE. We will be here in the Detroit area to make sure the stream gets through to you all. I will be there tomorrow with the DPAN streaming team.

How can you watch it? Go to Daily Moth Facebook, or Daily Moth YouTube, or DPAN.TV. It’ll start about 12 ET. We’ll see how things go in the courtroom, with the interpreters, and everything else, as it begins. If you want to make a financial donation to support this, please go to dailymoth.com/donate. Thank you to all who have already donated so far. More to come tomorrow.
