Teen girl dies from gunshot wound after grabbing LA officer’s gun
A 17-year-old girl died Sunday from a self-inflicted gunshot wound after she entered a Los Angeles County sheriff’s station and grabbed a deputy’s gun.
Officials said the incident was the first time in at least five years when someone shot themselves with an on-duty deputy’s gun.
The department said Sunday’s shooting came after the girl’s foster parent called authorities to their home in the evening, saying the girl was suffering from a mental health crisis. By the time deputies arrived, the girl was gone. About 15 minutes later, she showed up at the Industry sheriff’s office about 1 mile away from the home, knocked on the lobby door, entered and lunged to grab a deputy’s firearm out of the holster. The city of Industry is about 20 miles east of downtown Los Angeles.
The department has provided no video of the incident nor specific information about whether the girl fired the gun intentionally or accidentally.
The girl was pronounced dead at the scene. Her name was not released. Detectives are investigating the shooting. No deputies were injured during the altercation.
Federal agents raid Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ homes in sex-trafficking case
Federal agents raided homes in Los Angeles and the Miami area on Monday that are connected to the hip-hop mogul Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs.
Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) carried out the raids but did not provide details about the case, including whether Mr. Combs was a target or which criminal charges were being investigated. However, a U.S. official told a news outlet the raids on Combs’ homes on Monday were connected to a federal human trafficking investigation.
Diddy has been accused of sexual assault and sex trafficking in multiple civil lawsuits over the last several months.
Combs denied the accusations waged against him as he spoke out for the first time following Homeland Security raids on his homes in Los Angeles and Miami on Monday. He was never detained but spoke to and cooperated with authorities.
His attorneys said there was a gross overuse of military-level force as search warrants were executed at Mr. Combs’ residences. There is no excuse for the excessive show of force and hostility exhibited by authorities or the way his children and employees were treated.
Man boards Delta flight after taking photo of another passenger’s boarding pass
According to court documents, before the flight was boarded at Salt Lake City International Airport on Sunday, security footage shows Wicliff Yves Fleurizard snapping photos of multiple passengers’ phones and boarding passes while they were not looking and then using his own phone to board the Delta Air Lines flight.

Once on the plane, Fleurizard went to the lavatory at the front of the aircraft and spent a significant amount of time there while other passengers boarded.
After boarding was complete and just before the aircraft doors were secured, Fleurizard exited the front lavatory and made his way to the back of the aircraft and entered the aft lavatory.
When he exited the bathroom, a flight attendant noticed there were no available seats and approached Fleurizard to assist him, which noted the plane had already pushed back from the gate and began taxiing down the runway.
Once flight attendants obtained Fleurizard’s actual name and determined that he did not have a ticket or booking reservation, the plane returned to the gate and he was met by law enforcement.
Fleurizard, 26, is facing one count of stowing away on a vessel or aircraft.

Chick-fil-A to drop ‘no antibiotics' pledge on chicken
Chick-fil-A said over the next few months it is making some changes to the chicken it uses.
Officials at Chick-fil-A said they are moving to use “No Antibiotics Important to Human Medicine (NAIHM). It will be switching from “No Antibiotics Ever (NAE).
The company said on its website, “NAE means no antibiotics of any kind were used in raising the animal. NAIHM restricts the use of those antibiotics that are important to human medicine and commonly used to treat people and allows use of animal antibiotics only if the animal and those around it were to become sick.”
It also reiterated their high standards for animal well-being. Chick-fil-A officials wrote in a statement to a news outlet: “Because chicken is at the center of our menu, we serve only real, white breast meat with no added fillers, artificial preservatives or steroids.”
The change is expected to start this spring.
RFK Jr.’s VP pick is attorney Nicole Shanahan
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. chose Nicole Shanahan on Tuesday to be his vice president pick on his independent White House bid that is trying to appeal to voters disaffected by a rematch of the 2020 election.
Shanahan, 38, is a California lawyer and philanthropist who’s never held elected office. She was formerly married to Google co-founder Sergey Brin.
Kennedy, a former Democrat, made the announcement in Oakland, California, where Shanahan was raised in an impoverished family.
Kennedy told the crowd: “Nicole and I both left the Democratic Party. Our values did not change. The Democratic Party did.”
He is picking a running mate now because about half of the states require him to designate one before he can apply for ballot access.
That is all the top stories for today. See you tomorrow and stay with the light!
