Russian missiles strike near Polish border
The city of Lviv, Ukraine, which is near the border with Poland and is considered much safer compared to Kyiv, was hit with six Russian missiles. The missiles hit an aircraft repair building at an airport complex. Nobody was killed, but the missiles show that nowhere in Ukraine is safe and it’s the reason why Ukrainian President Zelensky has been pleading for the U.S. and NATO to impose a no-fly zone.
American killed in Russian strike in Ukraine
A 67-year-old man from Minnesota, who is an U.S. citizen, James W. Hill, was one of the group of people in Ukraine who were shot and killed by Russian troops when they were in line waiting for bread. This happened in the city of Chernihiv, which is around 100 miles north of Kyiv. Hill had a Ukrainian partner and they were in the city for her to receive medical treatment before they became trapped due to the war. Hill’s sister posted on Facebook that he was “gunned down by Russian military snipers.”
Putin calls Ukraine supporters “scum”
Russian President Putin said Russians who had views supporting Western countries’ opposition to the war in Ukraine are scum and traitors and that they needed to be removed from society. He insulted them, saying they couldn’t live without oysters and gender freedoms. This is a chilling warning from Putin to the rest of Russia that they cannot express opinions against the war, and we already know that Russian police officers will arrest protesters on the spot.
But there are many Russians who have spoken out against Putin. One of Russia’s most well-known rappers, Oxxxymiron, gave an in-person and live-streamed performance in Istanbul, Turkey with a banner that said, “Russians against war.” The musician said all of his earnings would go towards Ukrainian refugees. He will host another “RAW” (Russians against war) concert in London this Tuesday.

Indiana cheerleaders solve basketball problem
Last night during a NCAA men’s basketball tournament game between Indiana and St. Mary, a basketball became stuck on the top of a backboard. None of the players or an official could reach it, even with chairs and poles.
Then two members of the Indiana cheerleading squad came forward with a solution by having one of the male cheerleaders hold up a female cheerleader by her feet, with his arms fully extended. They were able to dislodge the basketball and received a standing ovation.
Driver of pickup truck in fatal crash was 13
Law enforcement said the driver of the pickup truck that crashed into a college golf team van on Tuesday night, killing nine in total, was only 13 years old. The pickup truck had a spare front tire that blew out before it veered into the college team’s van that was traveling in the opposite direction. Both vehicles caught on fire and were completely destroyed. The boy and a 38-year-old passenger in the truck and seven in the college van — six players and a coach — were killed. The golf team consisted of both male and female players from the University of the Southwest.
