Pretty cool captures! Now, are you ready for our top news?

U.S.-Canada and Mexico border closure extended

The U.S. border with Canada and Mexico has been closed to non-essential travel because of concerns with coronavirus and it will remain that way for at least another month, until August 20 or 21. All three countries confirmed the extensions. The U.S. leads the world in Covid-19 cases with 3.5 million cases. Canada has just 109,000 cases and Mexico has 325,000 cases. Georgia governor sues Atlanta mayor over face masks Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp announced he is suing Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms because the mayor is mandating all people in Atlanta to wear a mask in public spaces. Those who violate the order can be fined or serve up to 6 months in jail. The governor is suing because the Atlanta order is more stricter than the state’s orders. The governor has “strongly encouraged” but not required masks in the state. The governor said the mask orders hurt business owners, while the mayor said the masks save lives.

Tech CEO in NYC found decapitated and dismembered

Before sharing this news brief, I want to give a quick warning that some parts of this story may be graphic. Fahim Saleh (33), co-founder of two international ride-share start ups, was found beheaded and dismembered in his apartment in Manhattan, New York City. Fahim’s sister was the one who found him in the apartment after not hearing from him for a while. In several articles, the police said that based on the autopsy, it seems that he was tasered and stabbed first before the murderer dismembered him. His torso was found in the living room then parts of his body were found in plastic bags with a power saw next to them, still plugged in. The police said this was really by a “professional” because almost no blood was left behind and nothing was looted. As of today, the police has taken in Tyrese Haspil (21) in custody. He used to work as Fahim’s personal assistant. The police said it is expected that Haspil will be charged with second degree murder. Gokada, the company that Fahim was the CEO for, posted on Instagram that Fahim was an inspiration and really believed in the youth in Nigeria. Gokada said he was a wonderful leader and will always be remembered by many.

Queen of England knights a 100 years old man

The Queen of England knighted a 100 years old man who is known as Captain Tom Moore, but now he is Captain Sir Tom Moore. Captain Sir Tom Moore was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II because he raised more than 32m (40 million USD) for the National Health Service in United Kingdom. This war veteran was honored at the Windsor Castle. Queen Elizabeth II used a sword that was used by her father, George VI. Both of them exchanged laughter when Captain Sir Tom Moore told the Queen that if he got down on his knees to be knighted, he could never get up (considering he is 100 years old!) Captain Sir Tom Moore said that he never imagined that this would happen of him meeting the Queen and it was one of the most special days for him. Wow, what a heartfelt story. It is true that doing good for our community has no age limit.

That’s all for now. See you later. Have a great weekend and don’t forget, stay with the light.
