Major winter storm to hit U.S.
Weather forecasters said there is a winter storm coming that will bring heavy snow and ice to millions of people from Nebraska to D.C. over the weekend into Monday.
There could be more than six inches of snow in a corridor from Kansas to West Virginia.
The D.C. area also may get six inches of snow.
If you live in states between Nebraska and D.C., check out your local weather forecast so you can be prepared.

Broccoli sold at Walmart recalled over listeria concerns
Bags of ready-to-eat broccoli florets that are sold at Walmart in 20 states are now being recalled over concerns of listeria contamination.
The broccoli are sold under Walmart’s Marketside brand. The company that provides the broccoli is Braga Fresh Foods. The company said they discovered listeria during random sampling in Texas.
So far, no illnesses have been reported and the recalled bags are no longer for sale and past their expiration date.

Small plane crashes into warehouse in California
In southern California, two people on a small plane were killed when it crashed through the roof of a furniture warehouse. 19 people who worked inside the building were injured, some of them sustaining very serious injuries that required hospitalization. A news image showed smoke rising from a hole on a building roof. The warehouse is near the airport and the crash caused a large fire and led to significant damage to part of the warehouse.

South Korean president refuses to be arrested
AP News said in South Korea, investigators from an anti-corruption agency tried to arrest South Korean president Yoon Suk Yeol at his official residence but was blocked by the president’s security service. There was a six-hour standoff that saw several scuffles between investigators and security forces.
Yoon was recently impeached after he declared a martial law order on December 3 that caused chaos.
The investigators said they would not be able to arrest Yoon as long as he is protected by his security service and would take other measures to try and detain him.
AP News said this is a continuation of a crisis that has paralyzed South Korean politics.

U.S. surgeon general wants cancer warning on alcohol
The U.S. surgeon general Dr. Vivek Murphy released an advisory today that provided scientific evidence that alcohol consumption can cause an increased risk of various types of cancer.
The CDC said alcohol consumption is the third-leading preventable cause of cancer in the U.S., after tobacco and obesity.
Dr. Murphy recommended alcoholic beverages to have its health warning label updated to include cancer risk.
USAToday explained that only Congress can require the warning labels so the Trump administration will have to support this proposal if it is to happen.
