Three teachers and a school aide died within a 24-hour-span this week in Broward County, Florida. Local 10 News reported that three of the educators were not vaccinated.

Britney Spears’ father James said in a court filing that he would step down as her conservator. CNBC explained that a few weeks ago Britney’s new attorney filed a petition to replace her father as a conservator with a certified public accountant. Britney’s attorney said he is pleased that James is stepping down and would continue investigating James and his conduct the past 13 years, including looking at how he “reaped millions of dollars from his daughter’s estate.”

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) authorized a third dose of Pfizer and Moderna’s Covid-19 vaccine for emergency use among those who have vulnerable immune systems, like people who have had organ transplants. In southern England, there was a mass shooting that killed five people, including a 3-year-old girl. Police said the suspect is a 22-year-old man who had a pump-action shotgun and a license to use it.

CBS News said police received emergency calls at 6:11 p.m. local time. The gunman first killed a woman at her home then went on a shooting spree outside in which he killed four people and wounded two people. The gunman shot himself before police arrived.

CBS News said it’s the first time in over 10 years there has been a mass shooting in England.

The gunman uploaded YouTube videos in which he said he felt he could relate to incels — a self-described term that means men who are “involuntarily celibate” due to not being able to find a romantic partner.

The gunman’s YouTube channel was taken down after the rampage. There have been previous instances of violent killings by men who identified as incels.

Department of Homeland Security Secretary Mayorkas announced that over 212,000 migrants were encountered at the southern border in July, which adds to the 188,000 migrant encounters in June.

Mayorkas said in public that the situation is “one of the toughest challenges we face” because it involves vulnerable people at a time of global pandemic.

Fox News reported that a leaked audio from a Border Patrol source showed Mayorkas, in a private meeting, saying that the situation at the border was unsustainable because our system is not built for the amount of migrants who are coming. Mayorkas said the border system recently came close to “breaking” and that it is their responsibility to make sure it never happens again.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) said the Earth had its hottest month ever recorded in July. A NOAA official said July is typically the warmest month of the year for Earth, but July 2021 is in first place and it’s not a good place to be.

We can see from the NOAA map that areas in California, west of Africa, Europe, and China experienced record warmest temperatures.
