This afternoon at the U.S. Capitol, a person rammed their vehicle into two U.S. Capitol Police officers, went through a gate, and crashed into a barrier. The suspect got out of their car while holding a knife. Other U.S. Capitol Police gave orders but the suspect lunged at them. The other officers shot and killed him. The suspect is identified as Noah Green (25) from Indiana. Both officers were taken to the hospital and one passed away from his injuries. The names of the police officers have not been released yet. The U.S. Capitol building area has already been under high security because of the January 6 attack. Congress is not in session and President Joe Biden is out of town.
UPDATE: The deceased police officer is William F. Evans.
The U.S. government said there were 916,000 new jobs added in March, which shows that the economy is improving. The rollout of vaccines and states reopening has helped. However there are still 3.8 million people who are out of work compared with last year.
U.S. stocks are reaching new records. The S&P 500 hit 4,000 yesterday for the first time in history. The Dow Jones is also at one of its highest points ever at over 33,000 points. Analysts say investors have confidence because of the coronavirus stimulus package that went out last month and support from the Federal Reserve.
In Taiwan, a train with almost 500 people in it derailed after it hit a large truck that happened to slide down from a bank and onto the track. The train derailed into a tunnel and carriages were ripped and crushed. Many of the passengers in the train were standing up because it was full. At least 50 people died and about 150 people were injured. Survivors said it was a horrible scene with people falling all over each other.
The U.K. has added more countries to their travel ban list in response to their concern about the new Covid-19 virus variant. So far, their list has about 40 countries. Most of the countries are from Africa and South America. There are a few from the Middle East and Asia. British and Irish citizens who have residence rights in the U.K. can enter, but they have to stay in government-approved housing for 10 days at their own expense and must take a Covid-19 test. No European countries are in the U.K. 's travel ban list, but some people are complaining against that because countries like France are facing a resurgence of the virus. Based on the records, out of all the countries in Europe, U.K. has recorded the highest Covid-19 related death toll.

Khetag Pliev (37) is a former Canadian Olympic wrestler in 2012 who became a professional MMA fighter. He had a match last night in Philadelphia against Devin Goodale. During the second round, Goodale caught Pliev’s hand (part of a fighting move) then Pliev felt his finger snapped. The both of them continued to fight. When the second round was over, Pliev realized he could see the bone of this ring finger because his entire finger was gone -- it “snapped off.” Pliev wanted to continue fighting regardless, but the doctor saw it and ended the fight. Goodale won by TKO. Everyone was perplexed how it happened. Both of the MMA fighters do not remember anything either. So, the officials will have to review the video to see exactly how it happened. People said it was a very weird situation. As of this morning, Pliev’s finger was reattached.
One man in New Mexico went shopping at a food store. He returned to his car and began driving then all of the sudden bees started to swarm his car. It was about 15,000 honeybees. This man called 911 and did not know what to do. The fire department called one of their firefighters who was off duty, but he is a beekeeper, to come help that man. The firefighter and several other people worked to remove the bees from the car. He brought those bees to his property since he is a beekeeper himself. There are no reported major injuries. In several articles, it says that the honeybees were probably migrating and usually when bees migrate, they are less harmful because they do not have a home to protect. The firefighter who helped move the bees said he would do anything to protect the bees because they help the environment.
