Deaf News Briefs: “Jesus” film; Abigail Heringer memoir
Here are two Deaf News briefs.
The first: Deaf Missions is releasing a feature film called “Jesus” and it will be available in theaters nationwide on June 20 and that week. The film is presented entirely in ASL and has Deaf actors or actors fluent in ASL. Its Deaf producers are Joseph Josselyn from Deaf Missions and Michael Davis from GUM Vision Studio. Gideon Firl is playing the lead role of Jesus. You can check to see if the film will be playing in a theater near your home by going to tickets.jesusdeaffilm.com. I checked several cities in the U.S. with a large deaf population and there are showings in these places. There is a trailer, images, and more information on that website.

The second: Abigail Heringer, a deaf woman who was a contestant on “The Bachelor” Season 25, is releasing a memoir about her life story. It is called “The Deaf Girl.” Heringer has a cochlear implant and the book will discuss her feelings of trying to blend in with the hearing world growing up and her struggles with finding her place in the Deaf community. The book will hit shelves in September.
That’s the two Deaf News briefs.
