Deaf man survives four days in 24ft-deep hole
The first is a news article by the U.K.’s Metro about a deaf Russian man who was rescued four days after he fell into a 24-feet-deep hole in a forest. The deaf man’s name is Sergei Khmelevsky (37).
The article explained that Sergei was in a forest picking mushrooms when he fell into abandoned underground oil storage in eastern Russia. Sergei injured his leg when he fell and his mobile phone had no signal. He had no food on him and survived by drinking water from a puddle.
A video posted on the article shows the moment searchers found the hole that Sergei was in. Sergei waved to the rescuers and flashed his phone’s light towards them.
Rescuers used a harness to pull him out. Sergei lay on the ground in apparent shock and was later seen sitting in his car, showing a mix of shock and joy. One of the rescuers said it is not often that they find a person alive after four days.
The forest is in the Primorye region, which is in Russia’s southeast corner and is the home to black bears and Amur tigers.

“CODA” actor Eugenio Derbez recovering after accident
Eugenio Derbez, the actor who portrayed the music teacher in the film “CODA,” was injured in an accident about two weeks ago. His wife posted on social media that Derbez is recovering after a long and complicated surgery. They did not reveal what happened in the accident.
Yahoo reported that Derbez broke bones in his shoulder area while he was playing a virtual reality game while wearing a VR headset.
Derbez’s wife said he has a long and difficult recovery process ahead with rest and therapy.
“CODA” star Troy Kotsur tweeted two weeks ago that “he’s one of my favorite actors! Praying for him!”
