Deaf Entertainment news

Here are two Deaf entertainment news briefs.

Deaf actor Troy Kotsur received two major awards nominations for his role as a deaf father Frank Rossi in the film, “CODA.”

He is nominated for the Golden Globe Awards in the “Best Actor in a Supporting Role” category. Kotsur is also nominated for the Critics Choice Awards in the “Best Supporting Actor” category.

Kotsur recently won a Gotham Award for “Best Supporting Actor” for his role in CODA. When he accepted the award at a ceremony on November 29, he said he was “handless.” He thanked the director Siân Heder and co-star Marlee Matlin for their belief in him and also acknowledged his fellow actor Daniel Durant.

Both the Golden Globes and Critic Choice Awards awards will take place on January 9. Maybe Kotsur will continue to be handless if he wins more awards.

“CODA” was nominated for Golden Globe’ “Best Motion Picture” award in the drama category and also was nominated for Critic Choice Awards’ “Best Picture,” category.

The film also received two Critic Choice Awards nominations: director Siân Heder for the “Best adapted screenplay” and actress Emilia Jones for the “Best young actor/actress” category.
