Black Deaf History: Andrew Foster
Robert Haughton: The first known African American Deaf person to receive a BA degree from Gallaudet University was Andrew Foster.

He earned a total of 3 degrees in his life. After his education, Foster said God called him to become a missionary.

Foster established more Deaf schools than any other person in the history of Deaf education. Amazing.

He established 32 Deaf schools in Africa.

His legacy continues today and may we always remember his efforts to create a place for Deaf children in Africa.
