Stormy Daniels ordered to pay Trump $120k in legal fees
On Tuesday, a federal court in California ruled that Stormy Daniels must pay about $120,000 of Donald Trump’s legal fees that have to do with Stormy’s failed defamation lawsuit. This case is separate from the criminal case against Trump in Manhattan.
AP explained that in 2018, Stormy claimed that she was threatened by an unknown man who told her to keep quiet about her alleged affair with Trump. Trump said at that time that it was a “total con job” by Stormy.
Stormy then filed a defamation lawsuit, but a judge threw out the case. Trump’s legal team fought to get reimbursed for the legal fees they spent in this case.
AP and CNN explained that Stormy was previously ordered to pay over $500,000 of Trump’s legal fees, and with Tuesday’s decision, Stormy now owes over $600,000 in attorney fee awards.

A man with a hatchet killed four children and injured five others at a daycare in southern Brazil today. News reports said the man scaled a wall around the daycare and attacked children who were at a playground.

Trump rails against Manhattan DA in speech
Donald Trump gave a speech last night at his Mar-a-Lago resort after arriving from his court appearance in Manhattan.
Trump said the Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg is a criminal and that he leaked information from the grand jury. Trump said the judge overseeing the case, Juan M. Merchan, is a Trump hater and that his wife and family are also Trump haters.
Trump said he never did anything illegal and that the charges against him, which are related to a hush-money payment to Stormy Daniels, should have never been brought.
Trump pleaded not guilty to 34 felony counts of business fraud. The next court date is scheduled for December of this year.
Results of Wisconsin / Chicago elections
In Wisconsin, a liberal judge named Janet Protasiewicz won an election to secure a seat on the Wisconsin Supreme Court. NBC News said her win means the state’s Supreme Court has a liberal majority for the first time in 15 years. Protasiewicz won with about 55% of the vote.
NBC said the liberal majority will determine the future of several pivotal issues in the next coming years, such as abortion rights, gerrymandered legislative maps, and election administration, which includes possibly the outcome of the 2024 presidential election because Wisconsin is a battleground state.
In Chicago, Brandon Johnson, who is a former public school teacher, won the mayoral election. He narrowly defeated his opponent, winning 51% of the vote. ABC News said Johnson is a part of the “progressive left of the Democratic Party.” Johnson will take over the office from Lori Lightfoot, who failed to win a second term in an earlier election.
